NEW RIDER?

If you are new to motorcycling, knowing where to start can feel overwhelming. With Maeving, getting started is easy. Here's everything you need to get riding.

GETTING THE RIGHT LICENSE

A Maeving motorcycle fits within the motorcycle classification. In California, this means that riders need an M1 motorcycle license. However, requirements vary from state to state. Please check your state's criteria.

HOW DO I GET A LICENSE?

To obtain a license in CA, you have two options: either successfully finish a California Highway Patrol (CHP) approved California Motorcyclist Safety Program training course, or pass a motorcycle driving test at a DMV office. If you are under 21, you must hold a motorcycle instruction permit.

CAN I RIDE WITH MY DRIVER'S LICENSE?

No, you cannot ride a Maeving motorcycle with your standard driver's license. Both the RM1 and RM1S are classified as motorcycles in the US, requiring an M1 license.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER MY MAEVING?

A common requirement across all states is the need to register all motorcycles. Riding an unregistered bike, even with a valid motorcycle license, is against the law. While DMVs traditionally mandated in-person registration, some states now offer online motorcycle registration and renewal options.

KEEPING SAFE

It's understandable to have safety concerns when it comes to riding a motorcycle but with the right gear, motorbike and insurance, you can start to put your mind at ease.

WEAR THE RIGHT GEAR

It's important to dress for the slide, not the ride. In some states, wearing protective gear is mandatory, whereas in others it is not. However, we would thoroughly recommend always riding with a helmet, protective gloves, abrasion-resistant clothing (such as a leather jacket and reinforced denim jeans), and good-quality motorcycle boots, regardless of where you live.

RIDE WITH CONFIDENCE

With a lightweight frame, a simple twist-and-go throttle, and quality componentry, a Maeving motorcycle is perfect for new riders. We believe excellence is peace of mind. The Dunlop Gold Seal tires provide excellent traction - to be expected from one of the world's most respected manufacturers - while the linked brakes ensure effective stopping in a range of environments.

WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?

In every state, you must have motorcycle insurance or demonstrate financial responsibility, following the same liability limits as cars. This coverage safeguards your financial well-being in the event of accident-related damages or injuries, even if you're allowed to show only financial responsibility.

CHOOSING A BIKE

Both the Maeving RM1 and the Maeving RM1S are great bikes for first-time riders. However, the best choice for you depends on factors like your location, daily commute, and budget.

HAVE YOU RIDDEN A MOTORCYCLE BEFORE?

If you have never been on a motorcycle before, the Maeving RM1 has a lower top speed and gentler acceleration that will make getting started feel easier. However, the Maeving RM1S is still a fantastic option for first-time riders and its higher top speed makes it suitable for a wider range of riding opportunities.

WHAT BIKE BEST SUITS YOUR COMMUTE?

A Maeving motorcycle is designed for urban travel. The Maeving RM1 is compact, agile, and quiet for hassle-free commuting, while the Maeving RM1S offers more power and performance off the mark, perfect for daily trips around town.

DO YOU NEED STORAGE FOR YOUR JOURNEY?

Both Maeving motorbikes have built-in storage solutions. However, this is only available for the Maeving RM1 if you choose to ride with a single battery. The Maeving RM1S has 10 L of built-in lockable storage as standard.
